The European Turtle Dove will soon begin its migration to sub-Saharan Africa. Let's hope it can avoid the hunters' bullets, which await it, particularly in southern France. The population of this wild species has declined by more than 70% in Europe ( more than 90% in the UK) over the past few years. The main causes are hunting and pesticides in the seeds it eats in crop fields.
